As the number of people living in downtown Louisville continued to increase over the past few years, the need for active community awareness and involvement was apparent.
In early 2004 Louisville Central Area felt the time had come to resurrect the long dormant Downtown Neighborhood Association. At an initial meeting of downtown residents convened in May of 2004, a volunteer steering committee was formed to produce Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws for such an organization. That dedicated group met weekly over the summer months and by August of 2004 the Downtown Residents Association was formed and began holding monthly meetings.
The Louisville Downtown Residents Association (DRA) is made up of Downtown Louisville residents committed to making Downtown a strong, vibrant neighborhood. The purpose of the DRA is to enhance the quality of life of its residents.
From simply offering a chance for neighbors to meet one another to setting up meetings with Metro Council representatives and teaming up with other local organizations, DRA is an organization based on communication coupled with a passion for life in Downtown.
The DRA is operated by a board of Downtown residents, people who want to make the world around them even better.
