The CityPark customer parking validation program in downtown was established in 1987 by Louisville Central Area, Inc. and the Parking Authority of River City (PARC). The program was created in response to downtown businesses' requests to enable them to subsidize parking for their customers and clients. It is one of the largest customer parking incentives of its kind in the country.
CityPark provides free parking, in one-hour increments, in any of eighteen participating downtown parking facilities.
CityPark member businesses purchase validation stamps at the LDMD office. Stamps are $1.50 each, and are sold on a sheet of 32 for $48. Each stamp is worth one hour free parking. Members may provide their customers or clients with as many stamps as they like. They may require that a purchase be made to receive a stamp, or not; it is entirely up to each member. PARC and LDMD administer and market the program. PARC makes certain that the participating garages are reimbursed.
