Fontaine Ferry Exhibit
Frazier International History Museum
829 W. Main Street, Louisville KY 40202
From 1905 to 1969, Fontaine Ferry Park represented the very best of times for hundreds of thousands who enjoyed innocent hours of entertainment in the West Louisville amusement park on the banks of the Ohio River. For others, it was another sign of the times-a place they weren't allowed to access because of the color of their skin. This 3,800 square foot exhibit examines this integral park of Louisville's history, just in time for the 40th anniversary of the park's closing.

The 10 Most Inspirational Women in Louisville
The Muhammad Ali Center
144 N. Sixth Street
Since last fall, Resident Artist Gallagher has been seeking out and painting the women in Louisville who have inspired him the most. This new exhibit celebrates Gallagher's 'Year of Inspiration' as resident artist of the Ali Center's new Dreammaker's Program.  Throughout the year, visitors to the Center were able to see the artwork being developed and to interact with the artist.
Gallagher's own story has been one of inspiration-moving from the corporate world to follow his dream of becoming an artist.  "Through this residency," he said, "I have transformed my life and world view, found my voice, and improved my health." He chose to paint women for the exhibit because "women tend to inspire people every day, even when they don't know they're doing it."
The inspirational women featured in Gallagher's exhibit are:  Lonnie Ali, Co-Founder of the Muhammad Ali Center; Cathy Baily, Former Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia; Nikki Jackson, Cabinet Secretary of Personnel for the Commonwealth of Kentucky; Marlene Grissom, Director of Special Projects for Waterfront Park; Lisa Resnik, Director of Campaign and Strategic Initiatives at the Speed Art Museum; Bonnie Hathcock, Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Humana; Jennifer Beilstein, Managing Director of Actor's Theater; Anita Cauley, Horse Breeder; Lynda Lambert, DJ, 102.3 'The Max'; and Barbara Sexton Smith, Executive Vice President of the Fund for the Arts.
Viewing the exhibit is included in the normal admission price to the Ali Center and will be displayed on the 3rd floor until August 30th.  Don't miss your chance to see this incredible collection.

Menopause the Musical
Actors Theatre of Louisville
316 W Main Street, Louisville KY 40202
Billed as "The Hilarious Celebration of Women and The Change," the original, off-Broadway musical begins with four women, "Professional Woman," "Soap Star," "Iowa Housewife" and "Earth Mother," at a Bloomingdale's lingerie sale with nothing in common but a black lace bra - and hot flashes, night sweats, memory loss, chocolate binges, not enough sex, too much sex and day-to-day challenges with aging parents, aging children and aging partners.

They share their ups and downs through a collection of 25 re-lyricized baby boomer songs from the 60's, 70's and 80s.  Disco hit "Stayin' Alive" becomes "Stayin' Awake," Motown favorite "My Guy" is transformed into "My Thighs," "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" switches to "In the Guest Room or on the Sofa, My Husband Sleeps at night," and "Puff The Magic Dragon" becomes the anthem to exercise, Puff, My God I'm Draggin'".  "It may not be Shakespeare, but our focus is different.  We want to bring women together and empower them.  This is an event – a happening," says Kathi Glist, one of the show's producers.  "It resonates with just about any woman over 40, but it is enjoyed by all.  And the younger women laugh just as hard," she adds. "It's a party every night!"

World of Jewtopia
The Kentucky Center, Bomhard Theater
501 West Main Street
World of Jewtopia is a 90-minute, one-act show starring writers Bryan Fogel and Sam Wolfson that combines scenes from their original show (Jewtopia), re-enactments from their bestselling book (Jewtopia: The Chosen Book for the Chosen People), interactive audience participation, stand up comedy and a dazzling multimedia presentation for an outrageously funny, one-of-a-kind event.

The off-Broadway sensation Jewtopia opened in New York in 2004, following a 16-month sold-out run at West Hollywood's Coast Playhouse, where it still holds the record as Los Angeles' longest-running comedy.

World of Jewtopia has been called "outrageously funny" by the Los Angeles Times and "unstoppable" by The New York Times.

Lucinda Williams with special guest Buick 6
Brown Theatre
315 W Broadway
Lucinda Williams has always been adept at painting landscapes of the soul, illuminating the spirit's shadowy nooks and shimmering crannies – but she's never captured the sun breaking through the clouds as purely as on her new Lost Highway release, Little Honey. Lucinda Williams has earned her reputation as one of rock's most uncompromising and consistently fascinating writers and performers, winning kudos from artists as diverse as Mary-Chapin Carpenter (who helped win Williams a Grammy with her recording of "Passionate Kisses") and Elvis Costello (who joins her for a duet on the Little Honey mini-drama "Jailhouse Tears").

Each fan who attends a Lucinda Williams show in 2009 will receive a credit on merchandise sold at the concerts. The credit will be applied at the merchandise table at each venue. The discount will be approximately $7 on clothing and $5 on CDs. This credit will also be extended to her online store at lucindawilliams.com from April 1 to July 31 to accommodate those who may have attended shows prior to this announcement.
