Peggy Sue Howard
new landscapes
In Peggy Sue Howard’s new landscapes, reality floats above abstract chaos. The viewer is invited to enter a field of swaying swirls of color that sweep the eye to the horizon which is in focus and very much a landscape. This seeing is the reverse of the accepted assumption that the foreground be sharp and defined and the distant horizon fuzzy and out of focus.

Opening Reception: 12/7, 6pm.

Charles Hansen became a studio potter in 1999 establishing Hansen Studio in Louisville, Kentucky. As one of the region's most dynamic emerging clay artists, his focus is on large-scale work for exterior settings as well as interior furnishings and accessories. His work is about fascination with industrial and computer age machines. Each unique handmade piece is adorned with computer generated graphics and found industrial objects. He finds the juxtaposition between handmade and machine made, through the ancient art form of ceramics, creates a ‘future primitive’ art object that commemorates and celebrates the aesthetic range of our modern life.

Ross Gordon started photographing in Seattle in 1995 and attended the Seattle Center Photographic School and the Portfolio Center Atlanta. He is primarily interested in shooting people and cultural subjects, and has photographed on five continents and over 40 countries. His next photo adventure is to ride his motorcycle around central America photographing and interviewing people along the way. Planning a ride around the world in 2009.

Gallery NuLu, 632 East Market, Second Floor
Opening: December 7th, 2007
With his new collection, Gibbs Rounsavall and Gallery NuLu close the year together – and start 2008 - with his pieces that “define eye candy” (Diane Heilenman, The Courier- Journal).
Earning his BFA in illustration from Washington University in St. Louis and a MAT in art education from the University of Louisville, Rounsavall has shown in New York at the Museum of Contemporary Diasporan Art, in Ohio, and throughout Louisville.
“This exhibit is a comprehensive collection of works that offer insight into my creative process.
Each piece starts with a basic element, or building block such as a line, shape, or color. I twist, turn, bend and stretch these elements searching for their hidden potential, similar to the experience of teaching oneself how to play a musical instrument. After a time of
experimentation, I eventually feel equipped to play this “instrument” and begin the process of composing.”
Rounsavall’s work “shows how sublime – and complicated – simplicity can be” (D. Heilenman).
Please join us to celebrate and enjoy Gibbs Rounsavall’s latest collection!
